Clinics, Round Robins, and the Challenge Ladder
Introduction
All clinics and round robins are held at the Rengstorff Park pickleball courts, subject to court availability. They are free and open to the public.
There are no court reservations, so if courts are busy, place four paddles down next to the net on any court to be next in line to use the court.
Playing pickleball, like any other physical activity, carries some inherent risks ranging from minor to catastrophic injuries. You are playing pickleball voluntarily, and you knowingly assume all risks. You agree to indemnify and hold the MVPC Board, event organizers, volunteers, and other players harmless from any claims and liabilities.
If it rains, or the courts are wet, the events may be cancelled at the organizer's discretion.
For the most up-to-date schedule of events, check the Pickleheads group calendar.

Mini (Skinny) Singles
This clinic is for seasoned pickleball players who have only played doubles, but want to learn how to play Singles on only half of the court. We will serve both diagonally and straight across, depending on the score, but each point will be played on only half the court.
One benefit of learning how to play Skinny Singles is that it will force you to place your shots with more accuracy, and will therefore improve your Doubles game.
Once you have mastered Skinny Singles, please be considerate and only play a Singles game when there are open courts and no one is waiting.
Note: the courts are not reserved for this clinic. We will be rotating on and off the courts, depending on how many courts are available.
Skills & Drills for 2.0 to 3.0
This clinic is designed for players generally in the 2.0-3.0 skill level who want to learn additional skills and drills to work towards becoming a 3.0 player and beyond. The 2.0-3.0 is based on your DUPR ratings, but if you do not have a DUPR rating, see below for more details. See DUPR FAQ for more information on DUPR ratings.
What to expect:
Volunteer coaches will work on skills such as Serving with Purpose, Return of Serve Strategies, Third Shot Options, etc.
You will learn drills that you can use on your own with a partner to improve your game.
Positive coaching is emphasized and you should have fun learning.
Who should attend:
This clinic is not for true beginners. If you have a DUPR rating between 2.0 and 3.0 this clinic is for you.
If you have a DUPR rating below 2.5, or you don’t have a DUPR rating, assess if you can do the following, which are minimum prerequisites to having a meaningful drill session:

Are you able to correctly call out the score when serving?
Can you make forehand and backhand shots with some direction?
Can you serve correctly and accurately a majority of the time?
Do You understand basic court positioning concepts?
Drilling for 3.0 to 3.75
A club volunteer will lead a drilling session for 3.0-3.75 players who would like to practice and improve their skills.
What to expect:
You will learn drills to enable you to improve your skills in a variety of areas, and to help others improve their skills.
A player will explain and demo the drills, but not provide coaching during the drills.
You will rotate drill partners throughout the session.
In this session, drills will focus on neutralizing the NVZ advantage of the receiving team through the use of drops and resets.
Who should attend:
Players with a DUPR rating approximately 3.0-3.75
Players rated around 3.0 who don't have drilling experience should consider attending "Skills & Drills to 3.0 and Beyond" to build their drilling skills in a coached environment before attending this drill session.
Players rated >3.75 are welcome to attend, but should understand they may be more skilled than their drill partners

The MVPC Challenge Ladder
Challenge Ladders are totally flexible to accommodate players' levels and schedules. Unlike organized play, there are no commitments. You can arrange with your opponents the time, date, and on which courts to play. You do not have to play at Rengstorff Park.
Just challenge a team up to 3 levels higher than you on the Ladder and if you win you move up into their spot. All abilities are welcome and ratings do not matter. You may have as many as 3 partners on each ladder. Matches are the best out of 3 games to 11, win by 2 points. You will move up or down the ladder depending on your match result.
If you and a partner would like to join the ladder, just send your email address and phone number and your partner's email address and phone number to mvpcchallengers@yahoo.com.
